Knuckle Choke

Use this choke from the mount, or when you have your enemy pinned against a wall so he can't retreat.  Watch the vein on her forehead jump out with the choke applied.  You'll also notice the cough, which means the hand placement caught her windpipe a bit - even though this is a blood choke.

Guillotine

*NOTE**  When you are training the guillotine and you have your partner's neck, if you begin to fall backward RELEASE HIS NECK so you don't separate it from his spine as you fall.  As you gain experience you can get to the point of controlling your fall to the ground without breaking your partner's neck.  But for now, err to the side of caution. In any technique in which you have your partner in a dangerous position, and you begin to fall unexpectedly, release the hold to prevent an accident.  Many accidents can only happen one time...

When a dummy charges with the thought of tackling you - lights out.

As with many techniques, you must let this evolve.  You move too soon or too fast, you'll miss the window of opportunity.  Move too slow, your enemy will succeed in tackling you and may end up mounted while you get pinned on your back.

Training will help you remain calm when the attack comes in real-life.  You must remain calm.  You must not panic.  You must not be afraid to let the enemy put his hands on you.

Many times, you invite your enemy to put his hands on you.  If he is grabbing, he isn't punching, at least at that moment.

And it is when he grabs that you can go to work...

Rear Naked Choke

Get behind your enemy and slip this choke into place.  If he is bigger than you, climb that bastard.  If you'd rather not climb, kick the back of his knee and bring him down to your level, then apply.  Once you have this choke in place, hold on!  He may thrash, he may find a brick wall and try slamming you into it.  Just hold on and ride him to the ground.

Properly applied, he's got 3 seconds before he is gone.

As usual, once he is dreaming, curb-stomp him.  Punt his head into another zip code.  Pick up a hammer and drive it into his skull.  Or, use zip-cuffs if killing him isn't in your best interests.  Or run.

The point is - once you have control, you get to choose how this ends...

Get off the line of attack

Getting off the line of attack is always the immediate goal.  From the macro (moving to a safe place in the mountains) to the micro (buckle-to-buckle CQB), whether a punch is headed your way, a firearm is pointed at your liver, or a Chevy is barreling toward you - get off the line of attack, then go to work.

Hip Throw

Once you have closed the gap and gotten into your enemy's personal space, you can't hang out and let him rain down elbows, or drive knees upward.  You have to go to work.  You can execute a hip throw to either side, whichever side he offers.  Once he is down, go to work.

Rear Bear Hug: Your arms are pinned

So, he's got your arms pinned? You can handle that...

Rear Bear Hug: No worries.

When caught in a rear bear hug, with your arms free - make him limp.  Forever.

Kote: Hand position

The hand position for Kote Gaeshi is a fundamental that every CQB fighter needs to train.  You can disarm your enemy with this grip.  You can put him into a dynamic throw if he is moving.  You can fold him and take him to the ground if his attack is more static.  Regardless of what your enemy offers, once you get your hand in place, you can wreck his arm from wrist to shoulder very easily.  Once you lock him up you can get him to move where you wish, most often into the line of attack coming from one of his buddies.  This is a very useful technique against multiple attackers.  Once you lock him up...

...go to work.
